TEMS Director – Fleet Manager
TEMS Director – Fleet is a web-based service that allows you to remotely control and manage a fleet of TEMS probes. It helps you decide which work orders should be executed by each probe, and which routes should be driven to collect sufficient data. This allows you to better manage your data collection team, improving their efficiency and reducing the need for highly skilled individuals to run the tools.
TEMS Director – Fleet allows your to manage the probes licensing and software, ensuring all are at same version. It also allows management to determine what tests are performed and where and for how long the tests should occur.
Evidence has shown that this can reduce operational costs significantly. For example it allows a fleet of unattended probes to perform tests in the background, yet let each be take over in real-time to analyze issues in real-time. It also allows for ‘driver-only’ operation of complex Network Testing and Benchmarking systems. This enables a single RF-expert to control multiple data collection sessions in parallel, thus saving considerable operating costs.
Thank You!
Happy to connect.
User Interface Improvements
A few minor improvements to the User Interface have been added to TEMS Director – Fleet 4.3, this will make it easier to use the Fleet application. In a single selection scenario – checkboxes will be replaced with radio buttons to provide a visual clue that only one item can be selected.
In the Fleet configuration section the list of available user actions will be grouped into tasks, such as monitoring, reporting, remote control etc. to improve the workflow for the user.
Area Added
In order to filter data in the cloud solution – TEMS Director Analytics Advanced, used for ETSI Score and also for 5G Roll-out reports, it is now possible to import and use Areas.
Areas are defined via Fleet and exported to kml format. There is also a possibility to define the kml format via for example Google earth.

Understand your network by using umlaut or ETSI Score
In recent years, a number of independent telecom experts have started to report on the performance of mobile networks. The reports plays an increasingly important role in defining customer perception of network quality and performance.
Recent research indicates that the mobile operator ranked first in a country experience a churn rate 6-8% better than average! So network ranking may even effect the share price of mobile operators. Understanding what these experts are likely to say about a network (in advance) is becoming increasingly important.
The leading expert in this field is umlaut communications GmbH (previously known as P3 Communications GmbH), who have ranked mobile network performance in more than 70 countries over the past 15 years. The umlaut score indicator generated by the exhaustive tests has been used by analysts around the world to evaluate the performance of many mobile operators.
In order to provide the most accurate score, umlaut communications GmbH (umlaut) use our TEMS equipment to measure various Key Performance Indicators.
In addition to the world renown umlaut-score indicator, we have added the possibility to get an alternative network ranking from using your own (user defined) thresholds. We call this the ETSI Score Methodology.
This allows you to refine network scoring to your local conditions, by adjusting the weightings to reflect local needs. This scoring methology is based on the ETSI recommendation TR 103.578, TR 102.488, which describes which factors need to be taken into account. Our only requirement, is the that TEMS tools used to perform the tests are at the latest version, the tests are done in accordance with correct methods and the work orders are constructed to perform test in all areas of the network under test.
In addition, it is possible to change the weightings and thresholds at will, thus enabling a user to (for example) produce specific scores for applications that require low latency rather than high average speeds. This is a precurser to the introduction of Network Slicing, where each slice will need to be scored, and ranked differently.
The main benefits with Infovista ETSI Score solution
Based on the same principle as for ETSI Score, we now introduced for 5G network roll-out score. The methodology used is based on Ericsson 5G roll-out reports and is added into TEMS Director Analytics Advanced (TDAA) (Big Data Cloud solution). This first phase will support Accessibility and Availability dashboards. Going forward Retainability, Integrity and Mobility will be added. The user uploads their logfiles to TDAA and can analyze their 5G roll-out data in the dashboards created.
The main benefits are:
Downlink Cell Capability
Uplink Cell Capability
Primary ARFCN
HSUPA Mean SG
HSUPA Happy Rate
HSUPA Comb NACK Rate
LTE PCC # Antenna ENodeB TraceList
LTE PCC SINR Avg
In TEMS Director 4.3 we introduced a number of important monitoring and alarming features.
Alert monitoring – to configure thresholds and classify severity of a certain parameter. When a threshold is reached, a notification is presented in the Fleet Alert dashboard, and can be sent via e-mail or SMS.
One use case is when TEMS Sense is used for monitoring coverage in prisons, it is crucial that no network is available for the prisoners to call from. If so, an alert is immediately sent to the administrator who can take immediate action. This prevents illegal use of mobile phones in the prison.
For TEMS Director – Fleet 4.3 additional alerting on Wi-Fi scanning is planned. This to ensure that no illegal Wi-Fi network is available either. The alerting can of course also be used for customers that want instant feedback on network failures/degradations to quickly take action and before dissatisfied subscribers contacts customer care.
Flexibility to adjust the individual weightings on areas, services and KPIs. In this way the user can evaluate and benchmark their network for different scenarios. This allows for a deep insight in strengths and weaknesses compared to competition. Optimization of services can be focused where it makes most impact, saving time and increasing revenue.
A hosted cloud based solution, to reduce time needed for the user to manage systems, and allow for instant on-line access to the analysis regardless of location making it very efficient.
Dynamic drill down analysis of all KPIs and services in the score, enables actionable insights in the underlying data compared to static reports, where the user has to move to another system to do any analysis, saving time for the user.

Verify that Dynamic Spectrum Sharing really works
Dynamic Spectrum Sharing – Analysis
TEMS Director 4.3 contains a new feaure that documents the effectiveness of Dynamic Specrum Sharing (DSS).
Many Mobile Network Operators (MNO) are finding that Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS) is an attractive technology, that lets them take advantage of their existing 4G infrastructure, without compromising the performance of existing customers. In the past, it was necessary to allocate spectrum to any new technology (re-farming), which meant that the users on the legacy technology experienced significant degredation. With DSS, spectrum is allocated dynamically, depending on the number of users requiring each technology.
Part of 3GPP Release 15, DSS allows portions of the 4G LTE spectrum to be used by 5G NR dynamically – this means that 4G LTE and 5G NR users can coexist in the same frequency band/channel at the same time. This means that some MNO will be able to introduce 5G NR by simply performing a software upgrade of their existing RAN (as long as it is 5G capable).
A new feature in TEMS Director 4.3 allows customers to analyze metrics needed to understand the performance of Dynamic Spectrum Sharing.
This includes features to understand DSS in terms of NR Spectrum, and to analyze the results of device measurements that contain DSS information elements.
Dynamic Spectrum Sharing – Visualization
TEMS Paragon 4.2 contains a new feaure that documents the effectiveness of Dynamic Specrum Sharing (DSS).

A new worksheet has been added in TEMS Paragon 4.2 to the NR LTE workspace. This worksheet contains information elements needed for DSS/MR-DC analysis.
